Floor elements comprise steel reinforced AAC in a standard number of widths, depths, and lengths to suit the layout and structural design of the project. Each floor element is provided with a profile along its length to ensure a strong, tight fit. The combination of AAC and steel reinforcement cages enables large spans up to 20'-0" (nominal) to be achieved whilst retaining all the characteristics of AAC. The thickness of the floor element is typically 8.0" and standard width 24.0".
A strong and robust floor is achieved. The AAC structure of the floor elements provides a high level of uniform thermal insulation, particularly at ground floor level. Thermal bridging across different materials is eliminated. It is possible to build off the floor immediately after it is lifted into place. When used at upper floor levels an exceptionally high level of internal sound insulation is achieved between floors. Fire resistance between floors is dramatically improved where the floor elements are installed. It is possible to build AAC block walls at first floor level, thus increasing sound insulation and fire resistance between rooms.
